To Become Stronger, More Sustainable and Grow
During the summer our trustees have been focused on challenges associated with sustainable development. This process has involved re-drafting our vision and mission statement to more accurately reflect the culture, challenges and opportunities for interfaith today.
To promote sustainable development, we have also had a long, hard look at our financial situation. We are extremely grateful for the many ways we are supported by Reading Borough Council and many of our town’s faith communities. This generosity enables us to remain absolutely inclusive. Our supporters do not pay for membership, we do not try to sell you anything and no one ever has to pay to attend our events.
There are however unavoidable costs to give groups such as ours financial stability. These include insurance, maintaining our website, and some additional expenses for our meetings.
To achieve all these optimistic goals (and yes, we are a faith based organisation!) we have set up a system for online giving.
Reading Interfaith Group is registered as ” a non-profit-making unincorporated community association, founded in 1985, funded entirely through voluntary donations.. “As our assets are too small to apply for charitable status, this opportunity to donate has been set up by our treasurer as a GoFundMe page.
Although Reading Interfaith Group would like to continue growing and do more for our supporters, we recognise that these are challenging times for many people. Our objective is not to become a wealthy, but to maintain our mission, support the faith and spirituality in Reading, whilst setting a good example of friendship for communities so much less fortunate than our own.
